As part of the ‘Ray of Hope’ project, Ukraine has received 5,876 solar panels from Italian company Enel S.p.A. The project, announced in March 2023 by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is a collaboration between the European Commission, Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Health. According to the company, the panels, with a total capacity of approximately 2 MW, will power hospitals in Zhytomyr, Volyn, Khmelnytsky, Kyiv, and Odesa regions. The Ukraine Energy Support Fund will purchase additional equipment for the installation. An energy audit of 26 healthcare facilities was conducted by the UNDP in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and the European Commission. Currently, 178 panels have been installed at Krivorizhye City Hospital No. 16, with plans for further expansion.
