UAE-based EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company) announced obtaining approval for four new renewable energy sites in Abu Dhabi. The developments, spanning 75 square kilometers, include three solar PV plants located in Al Faya, Al Khazna, and Al Zarraf, as well as a wind farm in Sila. They are designed to deliver 4.5GW of solar PV capacity and 140MW of wind energy. The projects support UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 initiative and Abu Dhabi’s Clean Energy Strategic Target 2035. Key partners include DoE, ADNOC, DMT, EAD, and MoD. Additionally, EWEC achieved milestones such as financial closure of the Al Ajban Solar PV project and advancements in Khazna and Zarraf projects.
