wpd, Germany-based wind and solar developer, has commissioned the 53.5 MWp Gerbstedt solar park in Saxony-Anhalt.This marks wpd's first hybrid project at a single grid-connection point. The project connects to wpd’s hybrid substation, which already serves the repowered eight-turbine Gerbstedt wind farm. Construction began in February 2025 and was delivered by bejulo, installing nearly 90,000 modules across 54 hectares. A central controller manages combined output, giving priority to wind and regulating solar to avoid grid overload. Power is converted through 12 central inverters and transmitted via two cable systems to the substation eight kilometers away.
