India-based Websol Energy System’s Board approved plans to add 4 GW solar cells and 4 GW solar module capacity through a subsidiary.The expansion is estimated at Rs. 3,000 crore (~$ 340.76 million). Websol already operates 600 MW solar cell and 550 MW solar module lines at Falta, West Bengal. The solar cell line was running at 90% utilisation. An additional 600 MW solar cell line is scheduled to start operations in October 2025, raising capacity to 1.2 GW. The upcoming expansion is structured in two phases. Phase III adds 2 GW solar cells and 2 GW modules by June 2027. Phase IV adds another 2 GW solar cells and 2 GW modules by June 2028. Funding combines internal accruals and institutional lending.
