Vungu Solar Pvt Ltd, Zimbabwe-based independent power producer (IPP), has signed a 25-year PPA with Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC)for a 30 MW (AC) solar project. The project served as the pilot under Zimbabwe’s Government Project Support Agreement solar IPP programme and was among the country’s first internationally project-financed solar IPPs selling to ZETDC. Development was led by Private Infrastructure Development Group through InfraCo with Energywise Equipment (Pvt) Ltd and Impala Power Company Ltd. The agreement established pricing terms intended for use in future projects. Government entities, including the Ministry of Energy and Power Development, supported the process. The PPA aligned with the GPSA framework providing guarantees, tariff structure and currency provisions. Negotiations were supported by the African Legal Support Facility. The parties stated that financing was being pursued to enable construction.
