France based Voltalia, a global renewable energy firm, has announced that it has begun site preparation for a hybrid power plant in Sainte-Anne, western French Guiana. The project combines 43 MW of solar PV with 135 MWh of battery storage. It also included 34 MW battery output and 7 MW HVO biofuel generators for emergency grid support. The construction work was scheduled to continue for around three years, with commissioning planned for 2028. The facility is designed to produce about 50 GWh of electricity annually by supplying power to roughly 50,000 people and reducing 45,300 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. It is located near the Carrefour Margot EDF substation, the plant supported grid reliability in the Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni area.
