Soleos Energy Limited and Octane Investment Limited met Zambia’s Minister of Energy and expressed interest to invest 1 GW of solar capacity by 2030 in Central Province. The companies outlined a longer-term target to scale the portfolio to 5 GW. The Minister acknowledged the proposal and urged the companies to move from expressions of interest to implementation. He noted that approval timelines for energy projects had been reduced to 48 hours and that such projects were being prioritised across government. Soleos said preparatory works could begin immediately and that implementation could start within three months. The company referenced ongoing regional developments, including a 250 MW solar project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. More than 30 solar power plants are scheduled for completion by 2027 to address electricity deficits and support domestic and export power supply.
