Berlin-headquartered Saxovent Renewables has acquired an 81.8 MW construction-ready solar project in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from Milvio Energy. The site was located south of Rostock and held an EEG subsidy for 20 MW with additional potential for battery storage. Saxovent Renewables stated that the project would be moved quickly into construction and operation. The company noted that the project was fully permitted and offered planning certainty through the EEG subsidy and a planned PPA for the remaining capacity. Thorsten Freise, CEO of the company, said the acquisition strengthened the firm’s photovoltaic portfolio. The 57.8-hectare project area was leased from an agricultural enterprise, and part of the future solar output was intended to support the farm’s energy concept.
