Power Roll Ltd, a UK-based developer of flexible perovskite solar films, is collaborating with Swansea University on an Innovate UK-funded project addressing testing gaps in perovskite device manufacturing. This work is being carried out under the initiative titled AI-Enhanced Perovskite Manufacturing using Inline Metrology, Performance Assessment and Characterisation Techniques (AI-IMPACT). Power Roll Ltd is supplying roll-to-roll films featuring a patented partial back-contacted groove design with bifacial capability, high angular response and reduced shading sensitivity to support new characterisation methods. Swansea University, a United Kingdom research institution focused on building-integrated solar technologies, will review standards, metrology practices, supplier options, large-scale device assessment and artificial intelligence for manufacturing oversight. The National Physical Laboratory, the United Kingdom’s facility for photovoltaic device characterisation, is supporting prototype development for advanced end-of-line testing tools intended to strengthen manufacturing quality. Earlier this year, Power Roll has partnered with Sheffield to create flexible perovskite cells.
