Organon, a global healthcare company, has announced the signing of its first 10-year virtual solar power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Schneider Electric. The agreement involves the installation of photovoltaic solar plants in Belinchón, Cuenca, which is scheduled to become operational in 2026. Electricity generated from the project was set to provide Guarantees of Origin for Organon’s manufacturing sites across the European Union. The Oss plant in the Netherlands and the Heist plant in Belgium were identified as the company’s most energy-intensive facilities. The VPPA supported Scope 2 emissions reduction and provided protection against electricity price volatility. The agreement formed part of Schneider Electric’s Energize Program, supported by the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative.
