Denmark-based Nordic Solar and Swedbank has signed a non-recourse financing agreement for an 80 MW solar park under construction in Švenčionys, Lithuania, expected to be grid-connected in spring 2025. The project followed the 100 MW Molètai solar park, commissioned in 2024. Both projects aimed to strengthen Lithuania’s energy self-sufficiency by increasing local solar output and reducing energy imports. The Švenčionys plant was designed to supply power to over 35,000 households. Financing was disbursed prior to construction completion. Nordic Solar used its patented steel substructure with bifacial modules in both sites to enhance radiation capture and optimize energy yield.
