NKT and Uniper have signed a ten-year Power Purchase Agreement for electricity supplied from Uniper’s photovoltaic facility in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The solar power will support NKT’s manufacturing sites in Cologne and Nordenham. The agreement covered electricity from the 17.2 MW Voslapper Groden solar park, developed on a former ash field of a coal-fired power plant, with expected annual generation of about 17,872 MWh. Under the physical PPA, NKT will purchase 100% of the hourly produced electricity and all available Guarantees of Origin. The agreed commercial operation date is 31 January 2027, with commissioning possibly starting earlier if the project becomes operational ahead of schedule.
