South Africa based Mulilo, has reached financial close on the Orkney Solar PV Facility. The project has a capacity of 219 MW (DC)and a contracted export capacity of 150 MW (AC). A Power Purchase Agreement was concluded with Etana Energy in record time, reflecting commercial alignment between the parties. Once operational the plant is expected to generate around 478 GWh of electricity annually. The power will be supplied to Etana Energy’s customers across South Africa. The facility is projected to provide electricity to nearly 210,000 households. It is also expected to avoid more than 500,000 tons of COâ‚‚-equivalent emissions each year. The project will connect to the Jersey Distribution Substation through newly constructed 24 km overhead transmission line. It has been designed to be BESS-ready, enabling future battery storage integration.
