Mirova and Evecon, through their jointly owned Baltic Renewable Energy Platform OÜ (BREP), have advanced Estonia’s largest solar-plus-storage project. The platform is integrating a 55 MW / 250 MWh BESS with the 77.5 MW Kirikmäe Solar PV plant. The solar plant was commissioned in October 2024. The battery system has been under construction since January 2026 and is expected to be completed in Q3–Q4 2026. WiSo Engineering is acting as EPC contractor. Huawei is supplying the batteries, power conversion systems and medium-voltage components. Once operational, the hybrid system will store solar generation and provide grid services such as FCR, aFRR and mFRR. The project supports Baltic grid autonomy following disconnection from the BRELL network. In parallel, BREP signed the Baltics’ first 10-year Flexibility & Power Purchase Agreement with Pure Energy GmbH, effective January 2026. The agreement covers the Kirikmäe Hybrid, the 15.5 MW Imavere solar plant and the 12.8 MW Lohu Mets solar plant. To support construction and portfolio optimization, Swedbank committed approximately €85 million in long-term financing.
