METLEN, a Greece-based energy and metals group, has secured access to Italy’s Energy Release 2.0 mechanism for Acciaieria Arvedi, an Italian steel producer. The Energy Release 2.0 agreement covers approximately 2.4 TWh of electricity supply for the Italian steel producer. To support this supply commitment, METLEN will commission approximately 170 MW of new solar capacity in Italy over the next three years. The solar projects will receive fixed remuneration of €65/MWh (≈ $76.7/MWh) guaranteed by Gestore Servizi Energetici under the Italian Model. The mechanism links industrial electricity supply with renewable energy deployment for energy-intensive sectors in Italy. The company has completed more than 6 GW of projects globally, has over 5.0 GW under construction, and maintains a development pipeline exceeding 8 GW, supporting integration of solar with advanced battery energy storage.
