UK based Lightsource bp has been awarded a Contract for Difference (CfD) for the 49.9 MW (AC) Hett Moor Solar Farm under the UK Government’s AR7 renewables auction. The CfD secures a long-term, government-backed contract to supply stable, low-cost electricity to the national grid. The AllocationRound7 (AR7) auction recorded strong solar participation with 50% more solar farms supported compared with the previous round. The CfD scheme guarantees a stable price for electricity, protects consumers from price volatility and provides long-term certainty for developers. Hett Moor Solar Farm, located in County Durham, will have a capacity of 49.9 MW (AC) and is expected to supply approximately 53,900 MWh of renewable electricity per year. The project is estimated to power around 16,300 homes annually. Biodiversity measures include new habitats, native planting and long-term land management plans.
