The Jigawa State Government of Nigeria has signed a joint venture agreement with Tesni Energy Nigeria Limited and Leda GreenPower Energy Engineering Company of Beijing to establish a 100 MW per annum solar panel assembly factory in Dutse. The agreement was signed at the Government House with members of the State Executive Council and company representatives present. Governor Umar Namadi said the project formed part of the state’s industrialisation plans and supported the proposed 100 MW solar power generation facility. He said the factory would also produce solar-powered irrigation pumps and related components. The project is expected to create jobs, stimulate local industries and attract investment and the state government said it would meet its obligations. Tesni and Leda representatives said the plant would be among the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria, with completed feasibility studies and Environmental Impact Assessment, annual output of 100 MW, semi-automatic operations, investment above $5 million, and expected cost reductions of 50–60% for solar deployment.
