Zurich, Switzerland headquartered Hitachi Energy has installed 2,414 solar panels on the roof of its new transformer factory at the Hitachi Energy Park in Vaasa, Finland. The 1 MW system is expected to generate around 1.19 GWh per year, meeting nearly 10 percent of the facility’s electricity demand and lowering emissions by about 135 tons annually. Hitachi Energy Park is a €170 million (~$196.87 million) development covering 40,000 sq m and targeted for completion in 2027. The site is designed to double transformer production capacity in Finland and support expanded product lines. Hitachi Energy has planned to add about 200 employees in the Vaasa region. Solnet has supplied the rooftop solar plant serving the new site.
