Government of Germany introduced the Solar Peak Act to manage challenges in solar energy. As the country used more clean energy, electricity prices sometimes dropped below zero during high solar power production. To solve this, the government introduced the Solar Peak Act. It is set to take effect in March 2025. The act aims to stabilize the grid and balance energy supply. It also created opportunities for energy storage technologies to manage extra power efficiently. The German Federal Parliament considered a law to allow residential storage systems to trade electricity. This was expected to improve grid stability. It also aimed to create new revenue opportunities for both residential and commercial system owners.
