South Africa-based Exxaro Resources, a diversified natural resources company has expanded its renewable energy portfolio through its wholly owned subsidiary Cennergi. Cennergi has entered binding agreements with Acciona Energía by acquiring majority interests in the 138 MW Gouda Wind Farm and 75 MW Sishen Solar Facility, also including their dedicated O&M company. The purchase price has been set between ZAR 1.7 billion and ZAR 1.8 billion (~$102 million – $108 million). Both projects were procured under Bid Window 2 of the Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Programme. They are selling electricity to Eskom under 20‑year take‑or‑pay PPA. The Sishen PV based PPA runs until 2034, while the Gouda winf farm PPA runs until 2035. Cennergi’s net operating capacity will increase by 117 MW, rising from 200 MW to approximately 317 MW. Closing of the transaction is expected in the first half of 2026, subject to customary approvals, and is aligned with Exxaro’s strategy to reach 1.6 GW of managed renewable capacity by 2030.
