The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals under the EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM). The call aims to support solar PV deployment through cross-border cooperation between EU Member States. The proposal has a total budget of €54.9 million (~ $63.88 million) and will provide investment support for ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects located in designated host countries. Bulgaria and Finland will host the supported projects, while Luxembourg participates as the contributing country. The mechanism enables Member States to jointly finance renewable energy capacity, supporting EU energy and climate objectives while optimizing deployment across the Union. Funding will be provided as investment grants allocated through a competitive tender process. Eligible projects can submit applications until 1 September 2026.
