A Romney Marsh solar farm proposed by Environmena has obtained consent from Kent County Council. The approval followed deliberations and a vote within the Folkestone and Hythe District Council. The vote concluded with eight councillors supporting the proposal and four opposing it. The company has plans to create a 40-hectare solar farm off St. Mary's Road opposite Marten Farm. The land, currently agricultural land, will now be home to a solar farm that has the potential to provide energy to more than 10,000 households. The site has now secured approval on grounds of land utilization and environmental issues. However, there were some public issues raised during the process. People were concerned about some possible environmental issues.
