The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has arranged €192 million (~$ 219.76 million) to support three solar projects in Romania. The package includes €64 million from the EBRD and €128 million (~$ 148.05 million) from commercial lenders. The projects are located in Dâmbovița and Giurgiu counties and have a combined 531 MW capacity. These plants are expected to generate around 676 GWh annually and reduce about 280,000 tons of CO₂ each year. The Slobozia plant was awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference in Romania’s inaugural CfD auction. The Corbii Mari and Iepuresti II projects were planned to sell power on the Day-Ahead Market. Romania’s CfD scheme was launched in 2024 and has awarded 4.2 GW capacity. EBRD representatives said the financing has supported Nofar Energy’s investments and Romania’s target of adding over 10 GW by 2030.
