Dravske Elektrarne Maribor (DEM) and Slovenia’s Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy have signed an agreement to co-finance a solar power project at the Pobrežje closed landfill. The agreement was signed by minister Bojan Kumer and DEM director general Andrej Tumpej. The project will be supported through the Modernisation Fund of the Republic of Slovenia. A solar power plant with a capacity of up to 10 MW is planned at the site.The facility is expected to generate about 12 GWh of electricity per year. The project will utilize the former landfill area for renewable electricity generation.
