The DKE German Commission for Electrical Electronic & Information Technologies (DKE) has announced that the world’s first product standard for plug-in solar devices would be published in December 2025 after eight years of development and consultation. The standard defined technical and safety requirements for plug-in solar systems as complete units and clarified obligations for manufacturers, suppliers, and end users. It set an 800 VA inverter feed-in limit and outlined module power limits of 960 Wp for household plugs and 2000 Wp for special energy plugs. It also introduced new permitted connection options with defined protective measures. The DKE/K 373 committee planned to release an interpretation and FAQ alongside the standard. Plug-in systems with energy storage were excluded and were set for future standardization work. International bodies, including IEC/TC 82, showed interest in adapting parts of the national standard.
