Milan headquartered ContourGlobal announced the award of three solar PV projects in Sicily totaling about 80 MW (DC). The projects were awarded under Italy’s FerX and NZIA tenders, approved by MASE and granted by GSE. The projects originated from the LIMES portfolio acquired in February 2025. One 37 MW (DC) project in Trapani was awarded under FerX, while two projects totaling 43 MW (DC) in Ragusa were awarded under NZIA, using non-Chinese and European components. A total of 69 MW (DC) was secured under support schemes, with remaining capacity planned on a merchant basis. The construction was expected to start in 2026, with commercial operation in 2027.  ContourGlobal also stated that construction of its first Italian battery storage projects was expected to begin in 2026, following more than 3 GWh of global operational BESS capacity achieved in 2025.
