Philippines based Camigreen Inc. is developing a 4 MW solar facility in Barangay Liong, Guinsiliban, Camiguin. It marks the first solar power plant on the island. It is also the first renewable-energy facility in the Philippines fully compliant under the Embedded Generation Facility–Lease-to-Own (EGF–LTO) framework. The plant will supply daytime embedded generation to the Camiguin Electric Cooperative (CAMELCO). It also aims to reduce reliance on diesel and imported power. The project has broke ground in November 2025 and the commercial operation is set for the first quarter of 2026. The lease-to-own structure gradually converts electricity payments into equity. The model is designed to be replicable for other electric cooperatives seeking embedded-generation solutions. The project followed more than five years of preparatory work. This included permitting, feasibility studies, system-impact analyses and land preparation.
