Switzerland-based Axpo has completed the 200 MW Vilecha solar complex in Spain’s León province. The project is formed by four 50 MW plants built across Villadangos del Páramo and Cimanes de Tejar. Construction was carried out over more than a year and involved over 600 workers. The site uses more than 365,000 tracking-mounted panels across 360 hectares. The complex is expected to deliver about 377,000 MWh yearly to the national grid. It is also projected to offset roughly 75,000 tons of CO₂ each year. Around 70 percent of the workforce was hired locally during construction. Public land leases were structured to generate revenue for nearby municipalities. The design required coordinated engineering due to varied terrain and a shared 132 kV substation. Axpo has applied environmental monitoring and land-restoration measures throughout development.
