MCA Group, a Portugal-based engineering and infrastructure developer, has commissioned a 25.40 MWp off-grid solar plant with 75.26 MWh storage in Cazombo. The company stated that the site used more than 40,000 panels supporting regional electrification needs. MCA Group reported that construction generated over 300 jobs during project delivery. The company added that operations were expected to save around 10 million litres of fuel annually. Reported data indicated an estimated avoidance of 37 tonnes of CO₂ each year. PRODEL Ep oversaw the implementation with financing arranged by Standard Chartered and Euler Hermes. The facility was identified as the first plant delivered under Angola’s Rural Electrification Project for 60 communes. MCA Group noted that additional mini-grids were under development across several provinces.
