United Arab Emirates-based AMEA Power said that the substation and main transformers of its 120 MW solar plant in Kairouan, Tunisia, were back-energized. The plant is Tunisia’s largest solar project and the first linked to the 225 kV high-voltage grid. The company stated that this step moved the project closer to full operation. AMEA Power added that the work was completed through coordination with the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) and other partners. The project is expected to add to Tunisia’s renewable power supply and help diversify the national energy system.
