EDP Renewables has connected its largest utility-scale solar project in Italy, ‘Campo Agrosolare Tuscia 15,’ to the grid. The 72 MW solar plant, located in central Italy’s Lazio region, will generate 66 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing CO2 emissions by over 28,000 tons and powering 25,000 homes. As per the company, this project follows the successful launch of its 10 MW facility in Puglia. EDPR has installed over 600 MW of wind and solar power in Italy since entering the market and aims to reach 1 GW capacity by 2025. The company plans to further invest in Italy, creating jobs through renewable energy projects and distributed solar generation. Through its subsidiary EDP Energia Italia, EDPR has secured over 130 MW in installations for self-consumption. Additionally, the company targets 6 GW utility-scale solar capacity, and 1 GW distributed solar generation worldwide by 2026.
