US-based EDP Renewables has expanded its solar footprint in Italy by connecting two PV projects to the grid. Castrum 13 in Montalto di Castro and Tuscia 21 in Tuscania are both situated in the Viterbo region. Together, they offer a combined capacity of 103 MW and will produce over 156 GWh annually. EDP claims this output can power nearly 60,000 homes and can offset 67,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. This follows EDP’s recent connection of the 72 MW Tuscania plant, and the 10 MW Boccadoro plant in Puglia earlier in 2023. EDP entered the Italian market in 2010, initially focusing on wind but diversifying into solar, reaching 1 GW of installed and under-construction capacity.
