US-headquartered EDF Renewables North America, an independent power producer, in partnership with Enbridge Inc., developed the Amazon Solar Farm Ohio – Fox Squirrel Solar project. The Fox Squirrel Solar project, comprising three phases—150 MW (AC) (Dec. 2023), 250 MW (AC) (July 2024), and 177 MW (AC) (Dec. 2024)—achieved a total operational capacity of 577 MW (AC)/749 MW (DC). The project became fully operational in December 2024. It is in Madison County, Ohio, and includes 1.4 million panels, 159 inverters, and a capacity of 577 MW (AC)/749 MW (DC). This makes it one of the largest utility-scale solar projects east of the Mississippi River. During construction, approximately 650 workers installed 10,000 panels daily, contributing to nearly 1.5 million work hours. The electricity is supplied to Amazon through power purchase agreements, supporting renewable energy use and Ohio’s economic development goals.
