EBRD funds major solar & storage project in Uzbekistan

A significant milestone in Uzbekistan’s renewable energy efforts with EBRD’s $229.4 million funding for a 200 MW solar plant and 500 MWh battery storage system.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is financing a $229.4 million project in Uzbekistan, supporting the construction of a 200 MW solar power plant and a 500 MWh battery energy storage system in Tashkent. This initiative will generate 418 GWh of electricity annually and reduce CO2 emissions by over 230,000 tonnes. The project contributes to Uzbekistan’s goal of developing 25 GW of solar and wind capacity by 2030, with financing from multiple international financial institutions and concessional finance from Finland.
