Michigan’s renewable energy provider,DTE Energylaunched its largest solar project, Sauk Solar, in Branch County. The 150 MW Sauk Solar Park, with nearly 347,000 solar panels, generates renewable energy to power about 40,000 homes. It is the first of six new solar projects in DTE’s CleanVisionMIGreenPower program. Sauk Solar helps DTE work toward its net-zero emissions goal, funded by customers voluntarily enrolled in the MIGreenPower program.The project also supports Michigan’s target to reach 60% renewable energy by 2035. The project created more than 350 jobs during construction and will contribute millions in tax revenue to Branch County. Overall, DTE’s renewable energy initiatives are set to power 5.5 million homes by 2042, with ongoing plans to add more than 2,400 MW of new wind and solar capacity.
