d.light, a global provider of household products and affordable finance, is supplying 10,000 subsidized solar home systems to refugees from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo in Northern and Western Uganda. This forms part of a broader initiative to deliver 23,000 solar home systems to Ugandan refugee camps, funded by a $3.4M grant from Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) and Energising Development (EnDev), supported by the German, Dutch, Norwegian, and Swiss governments. The project, beginning in April, spans 12 months and operates on a results-based funding model. Each system includes three LED lights, an FM radio with MP3 playback, mobile phone charging, and a portable solar flashlight, with payment made upon installation by d.light.
