Trinasolar, Chinese photovoltaics company, stated that its 150 MW fishery-PV project in Ningbo City was recently connected to the grid. The system was installed 2.5 meters above fish ponds to support aquaculture while producing electricity. The elevated design kept water cooler, reduced evaporation, and limited algae growth. The port-adjacent site was exposed to storms, humidity, and salt, which required higher module durability. Trinasolar said it developed dual-coated glass and co-extruded POE materials that improved resistance to heat, moisture, seawater, and UV exposure. The Vertex N 700 W modules were rated Top Performers in all seven Kiwa PVEL tests. The modules also showed strong low-irradiance performance in coastal conditions. The project was expected to generate 200 million kWh annually and cut substantial coal use and emissions.
