China-headquartered Jinko ESS has successfully deployed and commissioned a 1 MW solar PV system paired with a 1.08 MWh air-cooled BESS in Oyo State, Nigeria. The project is part of the Oyo State Government’s 11 MW “Light-Up Oyo” hybrid power initiative, which aims to expand energy access across the region. According to Jinko ESS, the hybrid system has been integrated with a gas turbine to enhance power reliability. It is designed to supply stable electricity to critical government infrastructure and also power public lighting within a 10-kilometer radius. The project is owned by Elektron, while Royal Power and Energy Limited has acted as the EPC contractor for the solar installation.
