China-based PV module manufacturer, JA Solar has supplied it's DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules for Zambia’s largest standalone solar installation, the 100 MW Kabwe plant in Central Province. The project was constructed by PowerChina and commissioned in 2025. It is expected to generate 180 million kWh annually, serving approximately 150,000 households and reducing the region’s electricity deficit by up to 30%. The modules were selected for their performance under Zambia’s high-temperature, seasonally variable climate. The project also created over 1,300 local jobs and is part of Zambia’s broader goal to reach 1,000 MW of installed solar capacity.
