JA Solar, a China-based solar module manufacturer, has supplied modules for the 500 MW Dau Tieng Solar facility in Vietnam. According to JA Solar, the Tay Ninh Province facility was developed as a semi-submerged solar installation across a reservoir’s partially flooded area spread across 580 hectares. The Dau Tieng Solar Power Plant has been in commercial operation for over six years, with stable power supply in harsh weather conditions of high temperature, humidity, and UV radiation. The operating history has provided performance data for utility-scale, semi-submerged PV systems deployed in tropical climates. JA Solar said the modules were designed to operate in moisture-prone reservoir conditions and to limit performance losses over time.
