GCL System Integration has completed a marine floating PV project at the Soneva Secret resort in the Maldives, developed in collaboration with Ocean Sun. The installation deploys more than 4,200 TOPCon marine floating PV modules and has been designed to replace diesel generators. The project is anticipated to supply up to 90% of the resort’s annual electricity demand, with estimated savings of up to 1 million liters of diesel and reductions exceeding 2,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. The system uses GCL-NT10/60GT modules engineered for marine conditions, incorporating anti-corrosion frames with thicker coatings. The modules are designed with double-coated glass to withstand wind and wave loads, waterproof junction boxes with upgraded diodes for salt spray and heat management, and four-buckle connectors to maintain sealing integrity during adverse weather. Recently, the updated SiRo portfolio has been announced by GCL SI, covering multiple series tailored for harsh environments and visual integration.
