China Power Engineering’s Northwest Electric Power Design Institute has secured key system design contracts. PowerChina Northwest Engineering Corporation also won survey and design roles. Both firms are involved in two 350 MW CSP pilot projects in Qinghai—ZhongkongDelingha and Yichu Golmud. These projects mark the start of third-generation CSP deployment in China. Each site uses a three-tower, three-mirror field with distributed molten salt storage and 14-hour capacity. Delingha, by Zhejiang Zhongguang, spans 1,390 hectares with 3.15 million square meters of mirrors. Golmud, by Cosin Solar, spans 1,373 hectares with 3.3 million square meters of mirrors. Approvals were granted in March and April 2025. Northwest Electric handles core thermal systems; Energy China Northwest manages power generation and auxiliary systems.
