AIKO, a China-based PV module manufacturer, has reported that its ABC Stellar 66-cell dual-glass back-contact (BC) PV module has received explosion protection certification from TÜV SÜD. AIKO has stated that this certification confirms the module will not act as an ignition source when installed in flammable or explosive environments. According to the announcement, the certification makes the product the first BC PV module to obtain explosion protection approval. AIKO reported that this certification enables PV deployment in oil and gas facilities, chemical plants, fuel depots, and gas stations, where safety and regulatory constraints have traditionally limited installations. The certified module complies with GB 3836.3 standards and applies increased safety protection principles. AIKO stated that module uses copper interconnection technology to reduce micro-crack risks and includes improved high-temperature control to limit hotspot formation during long-term operation. Recently, AIKO has received the Solar Prosumer Award 2025/2026 in Germany following an independent EUPD Research survey.
