Cero Generation, a UK-based company, has secured financial close on a 244.7 MWp solar portfolio in Spain’s Palencia region, with immediate construction planned. The financing was arranged by a consortium of lenders including Spain’s Banco Sabadell, and Netherlands-based Rabobank and ING. The five solar projects will be built by Spanish EPC contractors Elmya and Metlen, utilizing solar modules from China’s LONGi. As per Cero, these projects are expected to generate over 200 jobs during construction, contributing to the local economy. The projects aim to produce over 480 GWh of renewable energy annually, powering around 150,000 homes and offsetting more than 175,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. As per Cero, its broader portfolio is one of Europe’s largest at 26GW and includes over 600 MW of operational or under-construction projects.
