ZESCO Limited, a Zambian national power utility owned by the Government of the Republic of Zambia, has completed the 100 MW Chisamba Solar PV Plant. It is Zambia’s largest grid-connected solar project.The $100 million investment was 70% financed by Stanbic Bank Zambia without sovereign guarantees. The project was developed by ZESCO’s KNBEPC with Africa GreenCo, FQM Zambia, and Power China. It aimed to improve energy supply, reduce load shedding, and strengthen grid stability through a Power Purchase Agreement. A second 100 MW phase was under development.
