Australia-based Frontier Energy Limited planned to expand its Waroona Renewable Energy Project in Western Australia into the Waroona Energy Park. The project aimed to add 1 GW of solar power and 660 MW of battery storage by 2031. Stage One, with 120 MW of solar and an 81.5 MW battery, was expected to start by October 2027, and Stage Two, of similar size, was already approved. The project benefited from existing grid connections near the Landwehr Terminal and freehold landholdings of 830 ha. Frontier had begun feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and financing preparations, including participation in the Capacity Investment Scheme, to advance later stages in line with Western Australia’s transition away from fossil fuel generation.
