Vungu Solar Pvt Ltd, a Zimbabwe-based solar IPP founded by Energywise, has signed a Government Project Support Agreement (GPSA) with Zimbabwe during the Africa Energy Forum held in Cape Town. The 30MW (AC) solar project was selected as Zimbabwe’s pilot Independent Power Producer (IPP) under a national solar investment program. The initiative is designed to attract funding with bankable, standardized project documentation.Developed by InfraCo, Energywise, and Impala Power, the project is supported by the UK, Netherlands, and Switzerland. Legal and financial advisory support was provided by ALSF, Covington & Burling LLP, Manokore Attorneys, and EY. The GPSA is expected to support construction financing by offering guarantees, cost-reflective tariffs, and currency convertibility. Vungu Solar is expected to reach financial close and begin construction in 2026, supplying power to ZETDC.
