Veolia Romania, local arm of Veolia Group, has acquired a majority stake in General Me.el Electric, a Romanian company active in solar power generation and battery storage projects. The acquisition expanded Veolia’s portfolio with low, medium, and high-voltage electricity services, complementing its existing activities in water, sewage, gas, and thermal energy. General Me.el Electric, ranked among Romania’s top ten companies in its sector, has operated for over 30 years with more than 200 MW of installed capacity. Its portfolio included a 62 MW photovoltaic park under construction and over 15 MWh of storage capacity. The company reported €37 million revenue in 2024 and expects €50 million turnover in five years. Veolia retained 180 employees, while GME’s management remained involved to ensure continuity.
