Spain-based Velto Renewables, an Independent Power Producer, partnered with Q Energy Solutions to acquire renewable energy projects across Europe. Velto acquired a 130 MW portfolio from Q Energy, consisting of photovoltaic and wind projects in France, with another 400 MW expected in Spain and Portugal soon. The portfolio included five projects under construction: two solar photovoltaic, two wind, and one floating solar park, Les Ilots Blandin, the largest in Europe. The floating solar park was built on industrial water ponds. The projects were set to begin operations between spring 2025 and early 2026. They would generate over 210,000 MWh of electricity yearly, supplying more than 50,000 homes. With this purchase from Q Energy, Velto Renewables, supported by CDPQ, planned to expand in the renewable energy sector.
