UbiQD, based in Los Alamos, has signed a multi-year supply agreement with First Solar to embed quantum dots in panels. This follows their 2023 joint development deal targeting mass adoption of UbiQD’s technology. It has developed applications like solar windows and greenhouse films using its nanoscale materials. The new agreement is expected to boost UbiQD’s production by over 100 metric tons annually. First Solar manufactures thin-film bifacial panels and aims to enhance performance through this integration. Earlier in 2025, UbiQD raised $20 million in Series B funding. Investor support and growing energy demand have positioned the company to scale its quantum dot technology in the solar market.
